Challenge

Solution
Pulling much of my inspiration from the cards themselves, my main goal was to convey the character of the cards as well as Frank, himself. AAF of North Central Indiana has recognized this design with a Gold ADDY and a Best in Show of Print Award.

Visually Enhancing the Story
Choosing the right imagery and placing it in the correct place based on the flow of the article was a challenge that I tackled head on. All of the photos and visuals were chosen and crafted not to distract from the written piece, but rather to enhance it and bring more value to the written word.
Dog Made Details
Keeping with the character of the cards, which were designed to look like Frank, a dog, made them himself, I used various textures and accents such as crumpled paper background and masking tape. In doing so, I was able to design two spreads which immerse the reader in an environment that compliments the subject of the piece.
