Challenge
Solution
The resulting work successfully captured the character and theme of the Ball. AAF of North Central Indiana recognized the mask illustration with a Silver ADDY and Judges Choice Award, and the invitation design received the People’s Choice Award.
Design Details
Illustration Style
Looking to Leonardo da Vinci for inspiration, all the the illustrations were meant to mimic the pen drawings that were characteristic of the era. While some were done in a rough fashion and others were more refined, they were all used in favor of photography to keep with overall theme.
Era Appropriate
Each invitation was rolled on parchment paper, wooden dowels, and then secured closed by a wax seal and custom stamp featuring a unique logo. This is just one of the many finishing touches that the creative team and myself implemented to play out the theme in the supporting collateral.
Building the Hype
Whether just opening their invite or thumbing through the latest copy of the Alumnus magazine, we wanted each and every touch to have some sort of continuity to get the invitees excited and immersed into the theme prior to attending the Ball.
